Whose AI visibility are we checking?
Here's a question most businesses can't answer: when someone asks ChatGPT who to hire, does your name come up? Let's find out.
Your full business name. This is the name we check AI for.
Without https:// or www.
The more specific this is, the sharper your test questions get.
This anchors every question to your market. One location per audit - re-run with another city to test a second market.
▸ Optional: portfolio items
Products or properties you own that AI might mention without crediting you. Example: a hotel group's individual resorts. We flag every time AI cites one without naming your business.
Next: we build your test set from this. The questions your customers are already asking AI.
Who are we comparing against?
You already know who your rivals are. Now let's see who AI thinks they are. Add up to 6. Skippable, but competitors are what turn a citation check into a market read.

Searches where AI recommended your business. These are wins to protect and build on.

Where to win next. Competitor-held searches mean a rival got recommended and you didn't. Uncontested searches mean AI recommended no one - the first business to build authoritative content there can take it.

Three steps, about three minutes

1
Your business

Name, website, one specific sentence about what you do. Serving a local market? Set your city. It anchors every question to that market. Have a Search Console export? Upload it and your real search data shapes the questions.

2
Your competitors

Add up to six rivals. You can skip this, but you shouldn't. Competitors are what turn "does AI mention me" into "who is AI sending my customers to."

3
Review and run

Your question set is written for you the moment you arrive. Edit anything, add your own, hit run. Three engines answer at once.

Get better results with five habits

One location per audit. Testing Miami and Orlando in one run muddies both. Run each city on its own and compare dashboards.
Local and national are two different games. Run one audit with your city set and one with it blank. AI picks different winners for each.
Losing questions still teach you something. When a rival wins a search for something you don't offer, that's demand they're capturing and you're not. And when AI recommends nobody at all? That seat is empty. Easiest win on the board.
Specific beats broad. "Family dental care in Springfield with weekend hours" produces sharper questions than "dentist."
Re-run monthly. One audit is a photo. A monthly trend is proof the work is working.

What the labels mean

Cited means the engine named your business or linked your site in its answer. Listing details means you showed up with extras like ratings, hours, or an address.

Cited in X of 3 checks means we re-ran your win two more times to see if it repeats. 3 of 3 is a citation you can count on. 1 of 3 is a lucky bounce. Both are real, and closing that gap is exactly what AEO work does.

Skipped means an engine didn't respond in time on that check. Skipped checks are left out of your citation rate completely, so a slow engine never drags your score down.

How we grade each citation

Strong. The answer argued for you. A direct recommendation, the lead name, or the top of a ranked list.
Moderate. The answer described you with substance. What you do, who you help, a phone number, an invite to book.
Weak. You made the answer, but only as a name in a list. Nothing argued for you.
The goal of AEO in one line: turn Weak into Moderate and Moderate into Strong, on more questions, more often.

Read this before you spot-check our results

Here's something most people don't know. When you ask ChatGPT a question from your own account, the answer is built for you. Behind the scenes it's searching the web AND quietly using what it knows about you. Your past chats. Your location. Your habits. All of it shapes which businesses get named. Ask the same question on your phone and your laptop and you can get two different answers. Every one of your customers gets their own version too.

CiteSight asks through the official API instead. The API has no memory of anyone. No history, no profile, nothing tipping the scales. Every question is asked cold, the same way, every time.

That's the whole point: a clean, unfiltered read on whether AI picks your business on merit alone. If you get cited here, nothing nudged the answer in your favor. You earned it.

One more thing to expect. Even when a citation repeats, the wording around it won't. AI writes a brand new answer every single time. You might be a bullet point in one answer and a full sentence in the next. So when you spot-check, look for one thing only: is your business named. Don't hunt for matching sentences. They almost never match, and that's normal.

Your screen shows one personalized answer out of millions. This report shows the neutral baseline underneath them all. The rate is the record.

What to do with all this

The report tells you where you stand. It doesn't change where you stand. The businesses winning these searches are the ones publishing the answers AI wants to cite, and every uncontested question on your dashboard is a seat nobody has taken yet.

Take the seat, or read about whoever does.

Why we built this

Our clients started asking a question we could not answer with a straight face: "When someone asks ChatGPT who to hire, do we come up?" Nobody could. The tools either did not exist or guessed. And "we think so" is not an answer you give a business owner who is paying you to know.

So we built the thing we needed. CiteSight is the tool we run on our own clients before we spend a dollar of their AEO budget - it shows us exactly which searches they own, which ones a rival owns, and which ones are still up for grabs. Now it is yours too. The audit is free. Knowing where you stand should not cost anything. Fixing it is where we come in.
